Transform CA builds with San Diego

I am living my dreams with no intention of stopping or waking up. What I have learned on this campaign so far is that politics are a game of shifting power and that power lies within people. Earlier this week, I was lucky to spend time with good people in San Diego who are pushing to get more services, safe spaces, housing, employment, and organizing power for transgender people in SoCal. I plan to be back in San Diego in the next few months to visit new friends and continue building, organizing, and preparing for our Transform CA launch in San Diego. If you want to be a part of the campaign or get connected to the amazing trans organizing happening in San Diego, please visit my contact page to schedule a meeting. Check out some photos that I took while we were in town:

Mixed Media Art

Ell@s Collective was a feminist art collective that I co-founded with friends in the south bay of LA. Around 2011, we held a public free art show where we had music, art, tarot readings, and even a tampon piñata filled with candy and condoms! It was the first time I featured art on an indoor/legal space and of course it was an homage to the femmes in my life. I never got to finish the piece for my sibling Gina and I’ll finish that one some day. Check out some of my art below:

Pochas Radicales are a rad group of friends, creatives, and organizers with artistic chingona politics. They invited me to speak on a podcast as a part of the Echo/Hecho art project. Check out Mobilizing Through Art for the full conversation (for best sound quality, tune in on a web browser) and to learn more about the PICA Precipe Fund click here. Preference Radio

I have wrapped up a lot of amazing work at the Center for Intercultural Organizing and got some time to talk alongside Zack about our work with Resilient Connections on KBOO Preference Radio. We talked about the Creating Change/Chains Conference, ICE and LGBTQ communities, closed spaces, and poetry as resistance. Listen here for the full episode! (PS I was depressed and stressed during this interview and there’s a couple word flops that made me blush)
